Ground Squirrels are a mixture of gray and light brown with a thin tail. They are most common around mountainous and desert encroaching areas, but can also become well established in neighborhood areas. Ground squirrels are omnivorous feeding off plants and insects, and they live in burrows under rocks, trees, or shrubs which can cause destruction in landscaped areas. They can be extremely detrimental to sloped areas causing erosion that can cost thousands of dollars in damage.
